February is the American Heart Health Awareness Month

更新日期:2月 16

In February 2021, we will promote heart disease prevention and will offer comprehensive exams, blood tests including checking blood cholesterol levels, and electrocardiogram (EKG). According to CDC, almost 1 in 4 deaths in the United States is caused by heart disease. There are different forms of heart disease including narrowing arteries, heart failure, abnormal heart rhythms, and heart muscle disease. The most common type of heart disease in the United States is coronary artery disease which is also referred to CAD. With CAD, blood vessels that supply blood to the heart itself are narrowed or blocked. CAD is the major cause of heart attack. Major risk factors for heart disease are high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, unhealthy diet, obesity, physical inactivity, and smoking. Heart disease can be prevented by eating a heart healthy diet with less sodium and trans fat, brisk 30- minutes walking daily, 3-5 days a week, and stop smoking, and seeing a primary care provider yearly for screening. At CCACC, we will help you identify your risk factors for heart disease and will provide you a tailored health plan to prevent and treat heart disease. With Electrocardiogram ( EKG), we will screen you if you have abnormal heart rhythm, enlarged heart, or a history of heart injury. With comprehensive exams and blood work, we will screen and treat if you have heart disease. Call us (301-798-6001) today to make an appointment for heart health screening.
